I think you're only likely to have serious problems if the quality is poor - there are some online suppliers that are trustworthy. But yeah, ones that aren't the perfect size won't be as comfortable (I can always notice the blind one for longer than I can my regular - it's heavier material, too), and you also run the risk of it not staying in properly. So if you have an astigmatism, it probably wouldn't work so well.
