trenchkamen: (Immature sore loser)
Definitely just watched Back to the Future III with my parents, because it was on Encore. All told I've probably seen those three movies upward of a hundred times since first grade, and I haven't lost my elementary school crush/admiration/hero worship of Doc Brown, because, really, there are few things cooler than a crazy old man who can invent a time machine and, when the need calls for it, don a duster and boots and kick some ass renegade-scientist style. And it says a lot if one can be absolutely no younger than sixty and still bag a girl that can't be older than thirty. That is what I want to be like when I get old. Fuck ending up in a home; I'm going to be eccentric and kicking ass and probably still wearing a trenchcoat well into my 90's. On a more superficial level, I've always loved his eccentric mannerisms and catch-phrases, and his hair even sticks out like any proper mad scientist's.

Aside from that, at the end of the movie, you end up with the obligatory 80's movie feel-good fuzziness, as a result of love conquering all (even the heart of an eccentric), and the good guys winning, and freedom and justice reigning, and all of that usual rot. If I'm rooting for the good guys, the movie is usually pretty good.

Donnie Darko came on after that, but I only saw part of it because Mom and Dad wanted to go to bed, and I was in the living room. I can finish it later. What I saw amused me greatly.

I have a dinner date tomorrow evening for a triply-jointed birthday to-do for me, Philippi, and Troxler. It should prove entertaining.
