Tell the world
Jun. 17th, 2009 04:31 pmI usually do not indulge in copypasta. I preserve this journal largely for my own words and take on things, but I found this article to be so powerful, I will re-post it here. The government of Iran is taking the right to spread information from its citizens. As a citizen of the world, and a fellow human being, I feel compelled to combat that in my own way, utilizing the luxury currently afforded to me: I will pass it on. It is such a simple right, and yet, we forget so quickly we have it. It is so fundamental.

Please, spread this. The right to let the world KNOW has been taken from Iranians. The least we can do, from our end, where we still have our freedom to spread information, is to spread it on their behalf. It may seem pretty useless, just to copy-paste something into your browser window--it may feel like a hollow, symbolic gesture designed to make yourself feel better about something you can do nothing about. It's not. It's everything right now--the spread of information around the world is the best thing we can do right now. Read, learn, and tell others.
And most of all--listen. Believe the people, not the government, not the press releases.
