Pain and suffering in various tempos

Saw the Touring the Angel concert this evening. That would be Depeche Mode, back on the road since Dave Gahan is out of rehab.

Oh my god. What an amazing concert.

And here is what you need to know in capsulated form:

  • I want that ball thing with the words on it for my room. Because that's my life story.
  • The shirt designs sucked. I got one anyway.
  • I can't believe I'm going to be walking around with a shirt that says "Pain and suffering in various countries."
  • Get over it, Dave.
  • We need to make those shirts that say "Get over it, Dave".
  • [livejournal.com profile] xcerebraledemax and I had a great time yelling the random (deep, provocative) words that showed up on the ball-thing.
  • We snuck down onto the floor until the security guards started checking everybody's tickets. We then went back to our real seats.
  • I think I deserve an award for being a sober virgin at a Depeche Mode concert.
  • At least I'm legal now.
  • On that note, jailbait is no longer allowed to show up at concerts looking that goddamned good.
  • On the same note, we were definitely in the very lowest age bracket at that concert. Depeche Mode is so *old*.
  • I was not disappointed for good crowd-watching, though.
  • [livejournal.com profile] zychi should have stood with us. There was a vacant seat next to our *actual* seats. I barely got to see him.
  • I don't think the camera guys took enough camera close-ups of David Gahan's thrusting crotch for those huge screens.
  • Or his ass.
  • Or him grabbing his crotch.
  • And I don't think "SEX" showed up enough times.
  • I think we got the point. They like sex.
  • David Gahan is such a slut.
  • They did *two* encores.
  • They played a lot of the good oldies. Like, "Enjoy the Silence" and "Personal Jesus" and "Policy of Truth" and "Somebody" (that shocked me) and "A Question of Time" and--
  • [livejournal.com profile] keichisfuuma and [livejournal.com profile] xcerebraledemax need more hand checks.
  • There were these two little kids close to us in Depeche Mode shirts and hats. It was hardcore-adorable.
  • Everybody sang the special Seishirou-version of "I Just Can't Get Enough" for me.
  • So much beer and drunken grinding near us.
  • I'm positive somebody was smoking weed right next to us.
  • I am so hoarse from singing and yelling that when we got into the car somebody asked me if I wanted to have that sex change done. (Note: good time to try to sneak into Men's Choir)
  • That was the most amazing concert I've ever seen in my life, period.

If you want a longer explanation of our evening check out Whitney's entry.

# I think I'm going to paper mache myself an emo orb myself now
# The shirt designs sucked, but I got one anyway too
# mine just says touring the angel on it
# I didn't expect somebody so emo to rock so amazingly hard
# I'll get on it
# and the big giant screens
# I considered that... but our seats were pretty decent
# ::crafts a little trophy::
# indeed.
# indeed
# yay for my dad, depeche mode's most hardcore (male) fan and the guy who introduced me to em
# indeed
# yeah, i missed you... but I was there headbanging with you in spirit
# um, indeed?
# sure
# ok...
# i was wondering why that was sandwiched in between synonyms for pain
# they're an 80's rock band, what do you want
# at least he had the decency to dance that crazed fan off the stage before she got too happy
# that they did, and they are my heroes for it
# when they played a question of time after my favorite songs from the new album, I was like "yes..."
# indeed
# that rocks. that right there will be the good half of the next generation of music
# weird, I never knew that was depeche mode
# ditto
# ditto
# ditto (well, minus the sex change part)
# I've seen a lot of concerts, but I would have to concur.

on a a further note, I went out and bought the Raveonettes' most recent album today. i thought they did a good job too.

Really? I was more inclined to call it the Pseudo-Intellectual Orb, but it can be an Emo Pseudo-Intellectual Orb now.

weird, I never knew that was depeche mode

Have I taught you nothing.
