Hey, Arizona.

VOTE NO ON PROP 102.

I don't even fucking know where to begin; it's all been said before. This is a sickening show of ignorance and intolerance, and I'm sick of people thinking extending marriage rights somehow devalues their own marriages.

EVERYBODY who can vote needs to go out and vote no. In 2006 the Marriage Protection Act was voted down by only a 1% margin, and a worrisome number of voters said they would have voted 'yes' if not for the clauses effecting heterosexual couples. No such mentions are in this bill. Its ONLY purpose is to prevent same-sex marriage. We have a significant Mormon population, and they tend to vote en bloc with each other--guess their stance on this issue.

Spread the word. Tell every single person you know. If you're not from Arizona, please tell all your Arizona friends. Every single vote is going to count in this one.

Legislation meant to deny rights to people strikes me as so thoroughly un-American as to be disgusting. But then, as a first generation immigrant, I tend to NOT take for granted the freedoms that we're given here, and the responsibilities that come with them.

I wish I could say the same about a lot of other folks around here ...

Plus the old people vote a lot too, and they tend to be a bit more hateful of people whop aren't them. It just annoys me something can get voted down, reworded a bit next year and brought up again. I'll be sure to vote and be spreading the word.

If a few other bills and some crack-posts running in my district, I am paying close attention to this years local elections

Well, the argument is that this time the bill does not include stipulations that effect heterosexual couples, so it's okay to put it back on the ballot.

Baaaaaaaah. Dumb people are duuuuuuumb.

I can't tell which is worse. The fuckheads who are against same sex marriage because they believe that it will somehow devalue hetrosexual marriage. Or the fuckheads who think it will lead to inter-species or inter-family marriage. Gaaaahhh.

The use of the word "protection" in this content makes me want to hit things. Gah, this is why I hate it when people try and claim that marriage isn't an important or necessary right (so it isn't really discrimination, don't you know) - because, wow, people can be awfully "protective" of something that we're encouraged to be not that bothered about. And frankly, whether it is or it isn't, things like this sure as fuck reveal what people really think about LGBTQ folk, whatever reasons they might give for voting the way that they do. Will be keeping my fingers crossed this doesn't pass.

Thank you for mentioning that. I can't wait to vote no on that issue YET-A-FUCKING-GAIN! The idea that someone else's marriage affects the definition of your marriage in any way is one of the stupidest arguments in the entire world. Oh, this issue just makes me terribly angry.

what now

Only, I'm just not an AZ resident. Ah well!! Where I live you get a sentence for intentionally stabbing someone that's lesser than drinking as a minor.

Really, what's more awful to you?

Drinking, you're just not hurting anyone physically other than yourself. Stabbing someone, come on!!!!

Whatever. Whatever, whatever, whatever.

Your icon is the sex.

And I did not realize Colorado was so fucking uptight about drinking. That's just silly.
