Okay. Stuff I've missed over the weekend:

The Amazon Fail Fiasco: Since they fixed the problem, I will continue to support them, but if it happens again, I will boycott even though I get free shipping if I go through my mom's account.

This would make tea taste so much better.

The Oklahoma City stockyards right outside of Cattleman's.

Yeeup. Me, Rachel (younger sister, my left), Frances (cousin, my right), and Will (cousin, back). Dad and Uncle Bailey are in the background.

And you thought I was joking when I said my family is from buttfucking nowhere. All things considered, including ideological differences, it was good to see them. I haven't seen anybody but Granddad in years. We don't see eye-to-eye on a lot, but they're my family, and in that Southern way they watch out for their own--even the weird ones.

When I was looking down at the stockyards, I made an offhand comment to the effect that I wondered how many antibiotic-resistant bacteria had evolved in the waste slurry below. My uncle's comment: "I thought you went to an agricultural college." Fuck my life.

I spent the vast majority of my time trying to fix Granddad's computers, including installing a new hard drive in his vintage-2001 Dell and fixing his wireless internet. It's bad times when I am the networking authority in the house. My Uncle Neal may be coming by later during the week, and he used to work for Dell, so maybe he can rig something more stable than I did.

The television was either on the Masters' Golf Tournament or news following the Somali pirate hostage situation. My family's opinion: the pirates should be hanged at sundown. My opinion: while I agree piracy is unacceptable, we should have compassion for pirates whose circumstances forced them into this life--maybe they were press-ganged or their families are being held hostage to force compliance. Besides, the death penalty is little deterrent--even in the United States with its high standard of living it is not a deterrent, and life in Somalia is brutal and short given the civil wars and disease. You could just as easily meet a violent end living an honest life. Besides, a death at the hand of American executioners is probably more desirable than a protracted death from disease, or a brutal, tortured death in the hand of various cartels and liberation armies.

Response: "Yeah, they're just not as highly evolved as us in Africa, are they?"

Urgh.

I hate that racism, sexism, and homophobia are considered to be the virtues of common sense observations in the South. And nobody in my family is ill-educated--they're all lawyers or physicians. That's just Oklahoma.

Also, I was asked if the sailors could be allowed to kill pirates in self-defense. I said that of course they are--and I also think they should be well-armed. The one issue we do agree on is gun control, or a lack thereof. I also do not hold the Navy Seals responsible for killing three of the pirates--I think it was unfortunate but necessary. And I do not know why the pirates are vowing revenge--what the hell were they thinking? You take somebody hostage at gunpoint, you might get killed. That's just how it goes. And you attacked a ship flying the AMERICA FUCK YEAH flag. But since we have the fourth pirate in custody, we have the leisure and therefore the obligation to look carefully at his circumstances and get a full story before deciding on his fate. That is the purpose of the justice system. Compassion is a strength and a luxury that should be exercised when one has the leisure.

And the pirates are not terrorists, for fuck's sake. They're just common thugs acting for money. Not every well-organized crime syndicate is a terrorist group.

I'm stunned that not once gay marriage or gay anything came up, because that would have turned very ugly very fast.

Yeah. It's good to be back in Arizona. I do miss the rain already, though.

I'm going to get my ass kicked so hard in Taekwando tonight. I haven't worked out in a week. I had over 9000 tests and papers last week.

I am almost tempted to ask my friend in Japan to order me an Edgeworth teacup.
Or send her some hints that she should buy a couple and sell them to people. >_> Because they are awesome.

I've always wondered if Edgeworth's semen tastes faintly of tea.

There is something wrong with me.

I was privy to a conversation Ashley and Courtney had one THEM dinner about how a man's diet affects the flavor of his semen. I only heard snippets, but hell, they probably DO know how to make a man taste like tea.

Isn't Lonely Rolling Star musical crack? I had it in .psf format (basically, music data ripped directly from the game) so it ran non-stop for hours at a time.

It does. This is scientifically proven. Like with real science. This is why guys with an unhealthy diet heavy in red meats have semen that is far less palatable than those who eat a lot of fruits and veggies.

And yeah, the Katamari music makes me feel so mellow. Have you actually played the game?

And you thought I was joking when I said my family is from buttfucking nowhere.

Well if you're dealing with Oklahoma, I would argue that in that state there's a high probability of considerably less buttfucking going on than in, say, San Francisco.

In that second picture, it's like a game of One of these things doesn't belong. My guess is the girl with the tie on.

Either way, that is more buttfucking nowhere than Thomasville, GA. Also, PIRATES!

One of these things is not like the others. One of these things is FUCKING METAL.

I somehow got away without making a single arse-pirate joke the entire weekend.

Dude, you're already dressed like a semi-cosplayer. Would it have hurt the situation to make an arse-pirate joke? That's like throwing more fire on fire.

I'm fairly sure most of my extended family suspects I'm a lesbian anyway. That would just convince them.
