Fighting the Power 101
Apr. 2nd, 2007 01:31 amI love these boots something fierce. I've always been a huge Doc Martens fan, as the black ones I've had since eighth grade are still kicking and comfortable, and comfortable knee-high boots would be a godsend. Now if only I can find pants in a cut I like that would fit inside a boot without wadding up.
But here is what amused me so much: Go to the Dr. Martens USA website, click on "About DM's", and then click on "History". (It's Flash or something, so I can't direct-link you. Sorry.) A shoe company is telling me how to be a true rebel. Seriously, some good advice there ("Driving fast, drinking cheap beer and smashing windows isn’t rebellion. The best form of rebellion is individualism. Thinking for yourself." -- yeah no shit, thanks, that's how we roll here), but the implicit "Dr. Marten's: The Official Shoe of the Rebellion" message is so deliciously ironic. Love it.
Wow this is not my paper on the core permanent self, due tomorrow. I am so boned.
