My dad is an amusing man sometimes.

Usually he doesn't call until about seven in the evening, just before he leaves the office and goes to the gym, but he called at about four PM just to tell me he had talked to admissions counselors at all of my out-of-state schools (except UCLA, because he couldn't get a hold of them) to see whether or not campus visits actually effected the selection process. I remember mentioning several days previous that interviews may count, and that I was going to check the website to see whether or not that was true, but I guess it was a slow day at work and he was bored. Or something. Turns out visits don’t count, regardless of what multiple counselors and an admissions officer from a private school told me, and despite having been told this time and again I still made it clear that I wasn't sure about the necessity of interviews.

The best part is that he told me (per his new Secret Insider Information) that colleges don't only look at GPA and transcripts, but they also look at extracurricular activities and other such achievements, and one's essays. Imagine that.

And when I told him I already knew all of this, he proceeded to ask me if I had mentioned multiple specific activities I've been involved in since God-knows-when. And then told me again how colleges look at that stuff.

He called me half a hour later to tell me that he had gotten a hold of UCLA (even though I said I'd check into it myself) and that they, also, consider extracurricular activities in admissions.

Ironically enough two of the schools to which I applied are playing one another at the Rose Bowl right now. It's sad when my first thought upon seeing that building is "ZOMG Depeche Mode played there in June of 1988 OMG OMG OMG David Gahan and Martin Gore walked on that Astroturf." Except it's probably been replaced since then. Trojan marching band's pretty damn good, though.

I could do homework or make a mood theme. Life is full of these tough decisions.

Wow I'm really losing it :-D

Yeah. That was my major thing when applying. I had no extra curricular activities. >>;; I didn't care about things like that.

Haha, the Rose Bowl's on TV right now. I'm attempting to show some school spirit.

Oh, UT won. Yaay!

I'm trying to set up visiting schedules and stuff. Whee. And, woah, they look at extracurricular stuff too?! Zomg! Apparently having l337 PS2 skillz is extracurricular enough for UT. ...Among other things.

Hm. Mood them > homework. That is my professional opinion.

from my high school experience, the UCs are ridiculously easy to get into. don't believe the hype.

and if you end up not doing the visits, cosplay camp still welcomes you.
