trenchkamen: (Take on me)

I hate foreign keyboards. They at least tripple my typing time. And the French don`t believe in the apostrophie, so it is obscurely hidden in the right corner of the 7 key. So live without contractions. Enjoy the proper nature of this entry, while it lasts.

Paris is as I remembered it. We are in the same hotel as last year, within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower. We visited the very same hookah bar as last year, though this year we were joined by no less than twenty smashed adolescents crammed into a small area spotted with open hot coals. It meshed about as well as could be expected. It was a wild time of good friends and good humor. I had only a handful of hits off the mango-flavored hookah, but no alcohol. Since I have not been drinking I seem to have been spending a (small) fraction of the money others spend per day; I had heard rumor of 200 Euro tabs for one night at the sake bar for a few people. Stupid-ass waste of money, if you ask me, though I may have to do one shot of sake just to taste.

I have seen most of the requisite sights of Paris. The Lourve was amazing, as it always was. We went up to the artists` district by the Moulin Rouge out of curiosity today, which was interesting. I got the group horribly lost looking for the metro and we ended up late for a meeting, but Miller was in a good mood, so it was fine.

When I was standing in line for the restroom at the Lourve between several Japanese tourists, the lady behind me looked at me and said "Beautiful," pointing toward my neck. I thought she meant my earring, but when I inclined it toward her she said, "No. You beautiful. Face." I thanked her in Japanese automatically, having no idea how else to respond to that other than my usual manner of using a pickup line, and thus began the requisite conversation that occurs when the Japanese tourist discovers that the Gaijin speaks Japanese. I actually understood a solid percentage of what she was saying, and we held a decent enough conversation. Yeah, that was random. I guess I am just that hot, even to older Japanese women.

Apparently I missed Depeche Mode playing in Hyde Park in London by a week, exactly. Fuck. That. Shit. But oh well. I am in Europe period, and that is more than enough. Still, seeing my favorite band in London would have kicked ass.

On the note of bands, I saw an advertisement in the metro for some French anime convention, and apparently Plastic Tree will be performing there. I will be back in the States by then, else I would be required to go.

And, to everybody in Phoenix: it is raining; Hahz.

Tomorrow we have a long bus ride to Brussels. I always got some perverse pleasure out of the bus rides, so long as I was not feeling sick (i.e. remembered my Bonine, my best friend in the history of ever during vacations), because I got downtime just to drift and listen to music. Personal space and time are at a premium during the trip, which is perfectly understandable and fine, but I do need that "me time" to meditate and stay sane. I am a hermit at heart.

Thanks to my lack of Microsoft Word, you can see my unadulturated spelling skillz. And the truth finally comes out.

Naw, that's Touru Furusawa; he's Millions Knives and Seishirou and Terada-sensei and Nakago and what have you. Touru Furuya is more old school, he does Mamoru. (TUXEDO KAMEN.)

YES SIR IT ARE.
