Where did October go? For that matter, where have the past three weeks gone?
I can't believe it's already almost time to sign up for classes for next semester. This time I'm hellbent on not taking any 7:40 AM classes ever again, if it is at all possible. I'm nocturnal, thank you very much. Unfortunately, so is everybody else.
On an unrelated note, leave one of my all-time favorite books in the history of ever unadulterated when you do the movie, please. Part of what made His Dark Materials so amazing is what you are so tentative about conveying, New Line. I am still hoping to see Lord of the Rings-scale justice done.
I heard through my roommate that there isn't hot water in the showers. Balls. At least tomorrow I don't have class until noon.
[Edit:] There was hot water in the showers after all.
[Edit II:] A lot of this post was pretty ghey, in retrospect, so I deleted it.

Date: 2006-10-19 09:26 am (UTC)As for other stuff, I have a friend who might take issue with the phrase, "Lord of the Rings-scale justice...." Then again, she call tell apart editions of The Lord of the Rings from differences in the text. I sort of agree with her, but that's because they left Tom out. Either way, though, that's nothing on the scale of what they look to be doing to His Dark Materials - that would be like making the Lord of the Rings, but taking out Sauron because he reminds people of something satanic. Great - now what is it about? A bunch of people running around to destroy a ring? In His Dark Materials, the main characters don't exactly have the goal in mind from the start (save maybe Lyra's father), but it still is loosing a huge chunk if you take away the back drop.
His Dark Materials is anti-religous, and while it doesn't do it on purpose just to be offense, that's something that is just built into the books.
Okay, no ranting in the comment, Nil.
Let's finish this off with saying that I think showers are only proper when they take half an hour and are really hot. A worthwhile use of water, no matter what you say.
