We just had a visitor on the back porch the Phoenix Herpetological Society came to take back to his habitat. Dad and I kept an eye on him until he was collected. In all the years I've lived here we've never had to call animal control, though we live in a subrural part of the valley; I assume all of the construction and renovation in the neighborhood is driving them away from their burrows in the wash.
I had a weird-ass dream last night where
hilorain and I were in Anchorage, Alaska, for reasons that are beyond me, and we were going to go see a movie. But we had to buy the tickets in the mall and then drive to Canada to go see it. And on the way I was supposed to run a chemical experiment in a bathtub that was being dragged behind the van, but I screwed it up. Oh, and
tricky_bastard was in the mall and said hi to us. I don't know why he was there, either.
I seem to have a lot of dreams lately that involve going north and seeing snow. The other night I just got fed up with something down here and drove to North Dakota. Except this wasn't "North Dakota"; it was a deeply green and beautiful land with snow in the washes by the highway you could sled down.
I guess I just miss snow for some reason. I haven't seen it since I moved out here. Or I have a wanderlust for colder climates. I'm sure the 116*F heat has been fueling that at some level.
I slept most of the afternoon. I hope this damn cold clears up soon.
