Until the laws change so that civil rights are not up for popular fucking vote, we're pretty much doomed. If in 1968, the abolition of Jim Crow laws had been on the ballot, it would have failed. It required Congressional and Supreme Court action to secure equal fucking rights for people with a different shade of skin color, who make up about 1/4 of the country. It's gonna need the same to secure equal rights for people who comprise about 10% of the population.
