I think I caught the fucking plague. I've gone through a box of tissues since I woke up at noon. I wish I was exaggerating. And my head is hammering.

[livejournal.com profile] miwasatoshi, I'm going to kill you.

Finals start this week. I have my biochem final tomorrow morning at 10:40 (why I can't take NyQuil because I have to, maybe, wake up for this), Kanji final Tuesday morning, rest of Japanese final Thursday at 7:30 AM (no rly), physical chemistry lecture final Monday, phys. chem lab final Tuesday, genetics ethics final paper due I think the 19th, but I need to do it this weekend, because I sure as hell won't have the get-up-and-go to do it once I've moved back into my house for the winter.

Also, you've got to be fucking kidding me. After the prosecution for a private collector owning (NOT selling) shota doujinshi in this case in the United States, I fear for the state of free speech on the internet. You heard me. Like Neil Gaiman, I consider this a free speech issue, not a child pornography or victimization issue. And this is just beyond idiotic. Hormone-crazed teenagers experimenting with making their own amateur porn is NOT child pornography. It's sixteen/seventeen-year-olds being NORMAL TEENAGERS--in a stupid way, yes, but teenagers almost by definition think with their dicks/clits and not with their brains. Most of them. Most of the time. Branding teenagers as sex criminals for doing just that is just WRONG.

Ranting was a nice break from studying, but I still feel on the verge of nausea. Please, please don't get worse as the week goes on.

Way to go, America. Repressing teenage sexuality even more. When will they realize that it just leads to more babies? :|

Abstinence education doesn't work. I've been saying this for years.

"These children are not mature enough to make rational decisions concerning all the possible negative implications of producing these videos."
Does he think they might possibly have any implications more negative than a child pornography conviction? Idiot.

Also, more of the same: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7770781.stm

Have people forgotten the reason child porn is illegal?

"These children are not mature enough to make rational decisions concerning all the possible negative implications of producing these videos."

but you obviously think they are mature enough to be prosecuted for what they did.
