I can't breathe. This must be because I forgot to take my allergy meds last night. I therefore can't sleep.

I'm positive episode 3.17 of Avatar was a stab at fanfiction. I will be disappointed if it wasn't. I know the creators dislike Zutara, probably mostly because Aang is a Mary Sue of the creator and he wants to bone Katara.

I finally finished Mom's belated Mother's Day/birthday present. That's pretty much what I did yesterday. And watch Avatar. Given that I just finished finals, I still have to finish that RNA project for my boss, and that I am leaving for Fanime Wednesday at the latest (fabula_umbrae, hi), I will not have any of my new planned costumes done by the con. This includes Ravenclaw student, bishie-anthro Prince of All Cosmos, and Shirogane Naoto. Hell, I haven't even gotten a new wig for Edgeworth, which I therefore have not even styled. I may have to bum somebody's skills in California for that. I guess I have everything I need for Hobo!Phoenix if I buy a gray hoodie and make a locket. Maybe. We'll see. At least I now have a hat that isn't shaped like a goddamn condom.

The family did a Goodwill run yesterday. I got rid of years' worth of Scientific American (this wasn't easy) among other junk. I ended up rescuing several of my sister's plush sea animals, because I couldn't possibly get any gayer. I have a bed full of fluff and cute. Anybody I fuck on this bed is going to feel like a pedophile. And I do think abolishing tax deductions for charitable donations is bullshit; you're giving people money to help others the government would otherwise be spending. It makes no sense. And it's not only the wealthy who benefit from the deductions (though that really shouldn't matter, as they pay most of the taxes anyway); middle-class families make donations too.

And I finally got bands on my PCR. Now I need to send the product out for sequencing. Please please PLEASE be something I need some signs of progress to show grad schools when I apply like next semester fuck my life.

I definitely f---ed up with the recent stuff. I forgot to add amp to the LB broth, and the stuff is already incubating. Hopefully, I'll still get the DNA I need. I don't care if the yield is low. At this point, accuracy will be just as good. Me and my forgetfulness...

On the note of Zutara... I'd really prefer Zutara over Kataang... I mean, I can't see Aang being in love at all. He's a kid (Don't gimme that 112 years of biological age blah blah blah because he did not do anything during that 100 years of freezing that's worth any personal growth whatsoever!)

Not to mention he's a monk. *shudders* There's something about monk screwing with people that just disturbs me to no end. I came from a family where monks = 100% celibacy. It can't be helped...

I can't stand TX air because my nose will keep acting up the whole night. It's happened... East coast air is crispier. You should apply somewhere east coast for grad school

I went into the show knowing Zutara was not going to happen, so I did not allow myself to start passionately shipping it. I did not want to get my heart broken by canon, again. And 12-year-olds can be sexual beings, to a point. I don't think it's a mature sexuality, but it does exist. And the Air Nomads clearly screw with each other, as they reproduce within their lines.

I remember being that age and shipping, having sexual feelings, etc. I think as we get older we distance ourselves from relating to young adolescents because of this huge taboo of pedophilia. It often comes at the expense of understanding. And yes, Aang is so adorably shota. I ship Toph/Sokka; I think they would work well together. I love Toph.

I'm pretty sure that episode of Avatar definately was a stab at fanfiction. Not that I'm into Zutara I'd prefer that over Kataang it would at least be a little more interesting. I just can't seem to get around the fact that Aang is twelve and maybe it was just me but when I was at that age I only loved people in a platonic way.
